We at Eaton Mill recognise and encourage educational excursions as a valuable element in the education of children. A wide and varied calendar of day and residential trips are planned each year that are both focused towards specific subjects and the wider experience.
Each trip will have a number of aims and objectives. For example:-
to build upon experiences within the classroom, to allow for an experience that cannot be provided in school, to accelerate learning, to identify and develop new skills, interests and capabilities in a new and different environment.
Every school trip, be it day or residential, is planned carefully and rigorously according to strict guidelines. Whilst the school accepts that sometimes accidents do happen, every precaution is taken through the completion of comprehensive risk assessments and inspection visits for each school trip.
The trip leader and all other adult supervisors in charge of a group of pupils will act ‘in loco parentis’ ie acting as a careful parent would for the entire duration of the trip.
It is school policy that all our children have some form of educational excursion each half term, with a minimum of six per year.
