The Eaton Mill Advantage

ICT

Information Communication Technology is a real strength within the school. All classrooms have Interactive White Boards and there are three ICT suites in school. Children can log on to any machine anywhere in school and instantly access their own work from a central curriculum server. In addition to this hard wired back bone the school also operate a wireless network and offers free internet access to parents.

SPANISH

All children from 2 to 11 years old learn Spanish from one of our three specialist Spanish teachers. Within a rapidly changing world and with the potential to travel extensively being more and more in reach of everyone the Governors feel that the ability to speak English and Spanish fluently by the age of 11 gives our children a huge advantage over children attending other schools.

PARTNERSHIP

We are partners in the education of the children and the school recognises that its duty is to foster and build upon the existing strong working relationships with our parents. Eaton Mill is but a small part of the wider community and it wishes to play its part in supporting other groups and organisations within the area and activities in the town. We view the wider community as a valuable resource. We will develop with the children a pride in their local community and heritage, knowledge of the functioning of that community and the unique role that they have to play in changing that community for the better.

ADULT LEARNING

At Eaton Mill we recognise that our duty to promote life long learning is not restricted to the children. As such we operate adult basic skills classes in Maths and English and adult beginners classes in Spanish. We also operate a 3Gs club which unites children with their grandparents in a bid to open up the world of the internet. This service has proven so successful that we have received funding to roll it out to our parents.

All our additional services are free and the time costs of the staff are donated by the staff.
